TortoiseCVS allows the user to work with any type of files under CVS version control directly from the Windows Explorer. The application is available for free under the GPL licence. With TortoiseCVS the user can manage modules, update, commit and see any file differences by right clicking on the files and folders within Explorer. The state of a file can be checked with overlays on top of its normal icon within Explorer. The program even works from within the file open dialog. Tagging, branching, merging and importing can also be performed, and the user can go directly to a browser web log on a particular file.
